Have you ever wondered why people will run 26 miles for a cause? or bike for days for AIDS? or walk all day for Breast Cancer?
It's probably because it hit home--to someone close to them, someone extremely dear to their hearts. My best friend was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis a few months ago. He's young, dashing, genius and full of love. I know that this diagnosis has been hard for him because it means a bunch of awkward and painful flare ups that he cannot predict or control. Times like these...make me think of how much mind over matter can be more powerful than we think. When physical symptoms are just beyond our control---having peace of mind will be our strength. Our minds and open hearts allow us to keep trudging on amongst the physical pain that we endure.
Support, community engagement, fostering positive relationships are integral to health. My friend has a wonderful network of love supporting him--although I do understand that he may feel alone because we're not physically with him during these flare ups or side effects. Showing love any way you can is a fantastic way to support the positive energy around you and engage in the community that will undoubtedly, love you back! Know that your mind will be stronger and than your body, your spirit always uplifting if you let it--AND that you're stronger and you glow brighter when you're a part of a community!
I would love for you to read more about my sweet 30 mile bike ride around NYC to raise money to find a cure of MS while my friend Burns continues to find his balance and journey of happy and holistic health!
