Wagwaan? (i.e. Jamaican way of asking "What's going on/What's up/What's good?") And thank you for checking out my site! I am ecstatic to share my world with you and I am extremely excited to see the Yin Yang Glow community grow!

Who is JeannieQueen anyways?  I'm a hippie-loving rasta who's passionate about motivating people to live healthier lifestyles by nourishing their bodies with real food and centering their actions with mindful living while being a part of a vibrant community. This means that I try to connect real people with helpful tips to increase intake of real food that comes from the earth while exercising our bodies and minds to maintain optimum wellness. You can eat all the healthy food you want, but if you're just sitting at your desk all day and not working out your body (I'm also guilty of this on my sleepy days), you will still be at risk for heart problems, blood sugar imbalances and weak/fragile bones. In the same way, you can eat all the healthy food you want, but if you don't feel good about yourself---or if you don't feel important to the world or the world isn't important to you--there's no way that you can feel like you're a healthy individual. Body needs the mind needs spirit needs the body. These  are all unified--and governed by the heart. Many health ailments are contributed to pent up emotions that have been pushed to the back of our minds, shafted away due to society's call for us to be productive, move forward, and just keep being the best that we can be. These are all positive ways to carry on with life--yet, we cannot truly move forward if neglect to take care of our heart; our emotions cannot be forgotten. They must be faced, dealt with in a healthy manner (i.e. meditation, journaling, sharing with loved ones--each to their own), and learnt from--this way we can truly heal from the past in order to be the best that we can be to ourselves and to the rest of the world, moving forward as wholesome and peaceful humans.

About me. I'm a fiery lioness who's passionate about inner beauty, wholesome living and bringing light into people's lives so that they can recognize the their beauty and importance in sharing their magic with the world; I wish that one day, through embracing the gold of humility, that we can all have true conversations, develop real relationships and make the world a peaceful place for everyone.

I'm a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Master of Public Health, WIC Program Manager, nature lover and mother of two cats abiding in New York City, hers truly.  I received both degrees from New York University and I received my B.S. in Nutritionial Sciences at University of California, Berkeley (Go Bears!!!) with a Minor in Education. I always knew I wanted to promote nutrition and healthy living and I am very happy that I've stuck with it because I cry with joy every time one of my friends tell me "Oh Jeannie! I totally filled my avocado with mango and sprinkled it with red pepper flakes via your idea on insta" or "Hey Jeannie!I just made my own salad with beans for protein in place of chicken with homemade olive-lemon dressing!"

Nonetheless, I realize that no one is perfect. I've had my fair share of problems with eating and having a healthy body image from starving my body of calories (and nutrition) to binge eating and purging. These thoughts scare me when I think about how much I hurt my body on the inside (imbalance of my body's pH, ketosis, acid reflux, dental errosion, swollen throat/jaws, inflamed lymph nodes and state of fatigue) just to try to look a certain way on the outside (not that I really looked good on the outside anyways suffering from hair thinning, sunken black bags under my eyes and red glossy eyes). Worst is that when my loved ones noticed--I was so embarrassed and ashamed because I knew that hurting myself, was hurting them as well. I knew that I was a part of a greater picture, and real community where what I did and how I treated myself--mattered! I'm incredibly humbled when I look to see the network of humans whom have graced me by their presence in my life--I strive to be the best friend that I can be to them as well--true happiness starts from within. This is why I believe that as individuals, we must be healthy for ourselves and in the grander scheme for our community as we play a crucial role in the energy that we put and receive from the world. I hope that your engagement in the Yin Yang Glow community will be mutually beneficial and that we too can develop a real relationship that makes the world a more beautiful place.
