What is a cooking social exactly? It's a night where you can meet new people, learn how to cook a new dish and engage in some mindfulness dialogue. After hearing friends tell me time after time that they don't know how to cook, or they don't have time to cook or that they're stuck in a rut and want to learn how to cook something new---I realized that I wanted to provide the space and set a time for people to enjoy the process of cooking. How? By having a quickie no-stress one-on-one cooking lesson with me as you meet other fantastic people!

Each week I set a menu for the week and divy up the recipes between everyone joining so that each person has one recipe to master. I provide a barebones recipe to each person and I walk him/her through the steps of cooking the dish providing recommendations here and there but in the end, it is up to the guest to taylor the dish to their own flavor and taste! This way, the dish has been personalized! After that when we're all ready with our dishes, we'll come together and go around sharing the process of making your dish and how you made it your own! I add in some nutritional information regarding each dish and any helpful cooking/prepping tips at the end because--that's what I do!

Since I have always loved cooking and sharing with my friends, I've hosted dinner parties in the past bringing together friends from all different social circles hoping that everyone would get along. Each time, I was fascinated by how my friends would find ways to connect and engage in conversation as they met someone from a totally different "friend group" at the party--and each time I thought, I'm so glad I connected you guys!

Furthermore, I like to set an intention for mindful conversation as we sit down to eat. This way, a whole dinner won't go by discussing matters that don't awaken the soul. Each week I throw out a different "Question of the Week" to get each person to think below the surface, about themselves and about the energy that they're exchanging with the world. Although I was nervous at first to "put people on the spot" I've realized that every peron has always enjoyed this part of the night as I observed each person light up as they shared their response. 

 I truly enjoy linking my friends up with each other as I could see these genuine relationships form--- deeper than just "someone I met at Jeannie's dinner party." I've always believed in the importance of community, and how we must be mindful of the people that we surround ourselves with--and so, I hope that you can come to enjoy your midweek climax with the Yin Yang Glow community expanding your culinary skills and nutrition knowledge while meeting new beautiful souls.

Please be aware that the location is a lovely and humble space located in the heart of Chinatown, NY. Kaos and Akilles (also known as Aki) are my two cats who are a part of the welcoming team, so please let me know if you have an allergy and take prior preventative measures accordingly. 

Although JeannieQueen is an NYC Certified Food Protector and adheres to strict food safety and sanitation measures, Yin Yang Glow's Cooking Socials are not considered a certified Food Service Establishment. Any consumption of food is at your own enjoyment and risk (although it is not likely that you would get sick--I must make this clear).
